What We Ate and The Grocery Shopping

Here is our grocery shopping from the past week. We needed SF jello desperately. It is my one sweet treat that I have for a snack once in a while. So I stocked up while it was on sale. The SF cool whip is for the jello. Hubby does not like it with out it.

Tomatoes, a red onion, a cucumber, and romaine were needed for our salads. The roasting veggie mix I have never purchased before so we will see if we like it. The broccoli florets I love roasted with a little olive oil and garlic powder.

Hubby requested the sausage. He loves to put it in his omelet with sauteed onion.

The Canadian bacon is for my breakfasts. Hubby likes regular bacon which I already have.

I love Laughing Cow Cheese. I eat a wedge with 5 turkey pepperoni for lunch once in a while.

All of this came to a total of $ 46.79.

This past week’s meals consisted of salmon and roasted brussel sprouts for two dinners. This is my plate. Right after I took the picture, I cut the salmon in half and saved that half to warm up for the next night.

One night we had taco salads.

Two nights we had chicken. The first night I roasted it and the second night we had sandwiches. Hubby had his on a roll and I had a lettuce wrap. With the roast chicken, I made Hubby some stuffing, gravy and corn. I had mashed cauliflower.

The other two nights we had Chef’s salads.

Brunch, lunches, or breakfasts consist of sandwiches, egg omelets, and egg salad on crackers for Hubby. Mine consisted of small salads, scrambled eggs or a hard boiled egg and some Canadian bacon. Some days we only eat two meals and some we eat three. It depends on how hungry we are and our schedule.

My snacks have consisted of SF jello, pepperoni and cheese, sliced cucumbers, popcorn( once a week), cucumbers dipped in hummus, and sliced peppers.

I am finding my diet so easy and simple. Most days it takes very little hands on in the kitchen and I am loving that. I have now lost 36 pounds. That and new clothes is my incentive to keep going.

What We Ate and Grocery Shopping and Some Miscellaneous

This past week’s grocery shopping trip was small again. I went to both Top’s and Super Walmart. They are less than a tenth of a mile apart. Pictured is all that I purchased. Eggs are cheap right now so I purchased 2 dozen at $.89 each. I already had 2 and 1/2 dozen in the fridge. The cucumbers were on sale 4 for $5.00. I only needed 3. The hot dog buns were $.87. The 3 lb. package of Sahlen’s hot dogs were on sale for $7.99 with a Top’s coupon. The sea salt refills were $3.83 each. The Sugar Free popsicles were on sale for $2.99. They are a treat for me once in a while. I needed to stock on the sugar Free BBQ sauces. We love these and they go quickly at my Walmart. So the 4 bottles were $ 3.26 each. The 2 Tic Tacs were free after doubled coupon. My total grocery shopping cost me $ 38.08 .

I ate the same breakfast every day this past week with the exception of our family Sunday breakfast. We had regular bacon for that. It was my usual Canadian Bacon and one egg each morning. I skipped lunch every day so that I could fast a little longer between meals. Hubby had either a ham or turkey sandwich every day for lunch. He is a late riser so he does not eat breakfast.

For 3 dinners, I roasted a big pan of chicken thighs and roasted broccoli and cauliflower along side of them. I just coated everything with a drizzle of olive oil and garlic salt. For 2 nights we ate one hot with the veggies. I warmed 2 of them up quickly in our air fryer the second night as to not overcook them.

The third night, I took the meat off each thigh and put it on salad. I eat mine with a spritz of olive oil and lemon juice and top with some feta cheese. Hubby likes Caesar dressing.

For 2 nights we each ate 2 hot dogs. Hubby had his on rolls. Those hot dogs aren’t really on my diet but I was craving some. So I decided to eat them without rolls. I served tomatoes and cucumbers for a side.

One night I made Apricot Pork Chops in our toaster oven. I followed this Recipe but substituted the pork for chicken. I also used both sugar free BBQ sauce and sugar free apricot preserves. This was so delicious! I made corn on the cob for Hubby and I had brussel sprouts.

For Memorial Day, we grilled NY strip steak for dinner. After I took the picture I realized that I forgot to put the sauteed mushrooms on top. I also made Caesar salad for Hubby and some apple, cheddar, and walnut salad for me. We had a very nice peaceful day and I hope you did too.

When I am not fasting, I eat sliced cucumbers, pepper strips, turkey pepperoni and soft cheese for snacks. This way I get extra veggies and protein. Once a week, I eat a snack bag of popcorn with no butter.

My diet may sound boring to some of you but it works for me. It is mainly meat and veggies. I keep my portion of meat to about 3-4 oz. Hubby and I share things like steak. I have now lost 34 pounds so the diet is working. When I get down to the weight that I want to be, I will never go up again. If I gain a couple of lbs. I will go back on the diet for a couple of days.

I have to share with you my clothes shopping adventures. My clothes were hanging off of me so I had to finally break down and buy some. I had lost three sizes. I could only find one pair of jeans that fit me properly and two tops that I liked. So I ordered two more online along with three more tops.  I purchased some new underwear but also special ordered two more bras. Well, the bras are going to be another 2 weeks or so before they come in. But I am managing with 3. The online clothing was ordered on May 18th and I still haven’t seen it. I got an e-mail informing me that it was stuck in Texas due to the tornadoes and weather across the country. I had no update until this morning and it looks like the order hit my town early this morning. I have no idea as to when I will see that package. It could be today or tomorrow or later. I am hoping for today. I am also hoping not to have to buy anything else until I get down to my proper weight. Then I will buy an entire new wardrobe at the outlets.

It has been a problem working with only 1 pair of jeans and 2 tops that fit. I only wear them in public and hang them up the minute I get home. When I am at home, I resort back to my really baggy clothing. UGH!

Please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question which I will try to answer in a timely manner.

What We Ate and Grocery Shopping

I only grocery shopped once this week. That shop is pictured above. I purchased three dozen eggs at $ .89 each, vidalia onions at $.69 a lb., 2 jars of olives, some shaved Parmesan cheese, and 5 packages of turkey pepperoni. I spent $ 20.86.

We go through eggs like crazy. They get used mostly for breakfasts but I do hard boil some for snacks and to put on salads. The pepperoni is for snacking. Hubby has decided he no longer likes Parmesan cheese in a shaker like Kraft makes. So he is trying this shaved Parmesan. I wanted a block to grate myself but my store had none. The onions and olives were needed since we are almost out. I don’t like green olives but Hubby loves them.

Now for what we ate this week.  Almost every breakfast was either eggs with Canadian bacon or turkey bacon. I added a 1/2 of avocado to most breakfasts. Sunday’s family breakfast, I cooked turkey bacon for me and regular bacon for Hubby, my son and West. I also served the Cranberry orange bread that I made for the boys. I make eggs over easy or scrambled depending on who wants what.

I made mashed cauliflower and shaved beef for a couple of lunches this past week. I am trying to use up an old package of Steak Umms that was in the freezer. Other lunches were salads with lots of veggies and sometimes a sliced hard boiled egg on top. I only use a little olive oil or lemon juice on my salads. Hubby usually make himself a sandwich -cold cuts, egg salad or tuna.

Dinners were simple. When I am dieting, I find that simple is better. So we eat a lot of the same meals a few days in a row. I made a huge crock pot full of homemade spaghetti sauce with Italian sausage. We ate that 3 nights in a row. Half of the sauce I froze for future meals. Hubby has his on spaghetti with some Italian sausage and I have mine on zucchini noodles with no sausage.

One night, Hubby made Chef’s salads and two nights we had salads without meat or cheese. The last night of the week, Hubby grilled NY Strip steaks outside. I sauteed some crimini mushrooms to go on top. We had eaten large salads for lunch that day so the steak was all we ate for dinner.

We are getting plenty of salads and veggies every week so I didn’t mind going without a very large meal on steak night. Many snacks are things like celery stuffed with soft cheese, turkey pepperoni, pepper strips, sliced cucumbers, etc. so I know that I am getting enough veggies each week.

We had such a busy week that I was not able nor did I remember to take a lot of pictures. I promise more next week since we have a very easy week for the first time in a very long time.

My Top’s Grocery Haul

I did a Top’s grocery haul this week. I made a list over this past weekend using the sales flyer. I must have been hungry when I made it because I ended up crossing off half of the list before I went to the store. The items really weren’t needed.

Hubby wanted a snack for this coming weekend while he watches the championship basketball games. Top’s had a deal where you could get a bag of Lay’s chips for $ .99 with a Monopoly token that I had. I also picked him up some sour cream to make onion dip. I have plenty of dried onion soup mix in my basement stockpile from a $1.00 deal at Walmart months ago. I also picked him up 4 -12 packs of Diet Coke that are not pictured.

The stuffing mixes and gravy mixes are for when I eventually cook the big turkey. I can’t eat them so this will make it easier to just make a little for Hubby when I cook it and to make more with leftovers. Most of the cooked turkey I will be freezing for future meals.

I have been taking the time to give myself a weekly manicure and ran out of polish remover.

Strawberries, eggs, and the reduced fat cheddar cheese were all on sale. Now that I can add some fruit back in to my diet on Phase 2, you can’t have enough strawberries.

I wanted to make a big pot of homemade spaghetti sauce(most processed spaghetti sauce has sugar in it) this week for Hubby. Hence that is why I bought diced tomatoes. I had none left in my stockpile.

He has been so patient cooking his own meals so I decided to make him his favorite, spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight. I can have a couple of meatballs in the sauce and some veggies. No spaghetti for this lady. I have a question for those of you who eat healthy. What do you serve spaghetti sauce on? I hate whole wheat pasta. I would love to put it on spaghetti squash but I can’t find one in my stores.

The bacon is for our family Sunday breakfast this coming weekend.

I purchased some
sliced mozzarella for caprese salad and some shredded Mexican cheeses
for Hubby’s Tostito snacks that he makes.

That was it. Even though Hubby is eating some snacks and a little bit different than me, he is still losing some weight which I am happy about.

My total for this Top’s haul was $ 51.46. So now I have $479.54 left in my April grocery budget.

Hubby and I are going to take it easy today and binge watch some movies. It is looking like this weekend may be warm, in the 50’s and 60’s, so perhaps we can get outside and enjoy it.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be back next week.

A Day In The Life

After getting up really early and getting that one cup of coffee and an egg for breakfast, I got ready to go to the dentist for an 8AM appointment. I just loved dealing with rush hour traffic especially when it had been snowing since Saturday night. Another expensive trip($330.) for cleaning and X rays but the good news is that I had no cavities.

Next it was a trip to the bank to get cash out for April’s groceries and eating out. After tracking spending on healthy food last month, I decided to get $500. for the month. My trial run in March was $800. which got us some items that will last more than a month or two plus let Hubby buy some goodies for himself. I had $ 77.90 left from March to roll into April. So after doing my withdrawal, I had a running balance of $577.90. I will be taking any monies that are left each month and just rolling it into the next month. That way I can build up a balance so that if I find a great meat sale, I can stock.

It will also allow me to build up some monies for a nice dinner out. We are cooking all of our meals right now but I am sure after a month or so, we will want to go out. I have looked at most of the menus for the restaurants we frequent and I believe it will be pretty easy for me to stay on South Beach while eating out.

Easter has been on my mind since family is coming for dinner. I have a spiral sliced ham and a large turkey in my freezer that I purchased at rock bottom during the holidays in 2018. However, Hubby wants a leg of lamb. Lamb usually goes on sale closer to Easter. I will be keeping my eyes open for that perfect sale price. If it is really good, then I will buy one for Easter and a spare for the Fall.

But I did start getting things for an Easter basket for West. I had a $3.00 ECB and a $2.00 ECB that CVS just gave to me. So on the way home from the dentist I stopped and got some candy to start it. Free was terrific! I am doing something different for my granddaughter.

Next I went to Niagara Produce to pick up some produce. We are going through a lot of produce these days. I also picked up some cold cuts and free au jus for Hubby. And I shopped at Walmart. Jelly beans are more for West’s basket and some for Hubby too. Hubby wanted wraps to go with his cold cuts.

I started with $ 577.90 in my budget and after deducting the Walmart and Niagara Produce shop I have a balance of $531.00. I will most likely do a Top’s shop tomorrow since it is Senior Citizen Discount Day(6% off).

I am beat after all of the shopping and the dentist. So I will most likely settle down with a book and my lemon water for a while. Hubby needs to go outside and rake up the glass from our table on the patio. It broke during the wind storm a few weeks ago and he hasn’t gotten to it yet. He started one day but he said it was too cold. So we will be replacing it with a new patio dining set soon.

The other surprise we got today was a notice from our town that our assessment on the house went up $33,000. for 2019. They nailed everyone in here most likely because the houses were selling the end of last year for 28-40% more than they had been. I expect we will get hit again next year because they are extending our neighborhood behind us. So lots of new homes will be for sale. They started selling them about two weeks ago and have sold 6 so far. I will be happy to have a large home behind us to break up the wind.

Now that I am losing so much weight, I was afraid I would lose my wedding ring. I almost lost it last weekend. So I stopped and got a ring guard. That will work until I am down to the weight I want to be and can get it made smaller.

Tonight I will be making a South Beach recipe for gingered chicken and steaming some asparagus. I will make some rice in the rice cooker if Hubby wants some.

I hope you are having a great day! Have you gotten any great deals lately? Please feel free to tell us all about them in comments.

Wegman’s South Beach Haul

I managed to get to Wegman’s for my first South Beach grocery shopping haul. But I had to cut it short because it exhausted me. I hope to go to Top’s later this week to pick up the things that I didn’t get.

My brain is telling me that I can do anything but my body is not letting me. I get tired very easily.

Here is my receipt because it is easier for me right now than to list it all here. I got a few things that Hubby wanted that aren’t pictured. The picture is just of the South Beach items.

This diet is very important to me for my health. I am not trying to be frugal when I spend for it. I will be shopping at a number of different stores over the next 10-12 weeks so that I can get a handle on who has the best prices. I used no coupons today. I had one for the Cheerios but because I was so tired, I forgot to use it.

I am having the people who wait on me in the fish market cut my organic salmon into 3 oz. pieces which is perfect for my diet. I love salmon and have decided to splurge on it. Hubby likes haddock and we have a few whole ones in the freezer for him. Tonight, I am having baked salmon with fresh lemon and steamed asparagus for dinner. This meal is not only SB but on my soft food diet this week. So while eating the soft foods, I am trying to stay SB.

I also picked up some sirloin steak which Hubby will grill some day next week. This is two portions. On this diet I can have steak once or so every 2-3 weeks. Most of the time, dinner will include chicken or fish and sometimes pork. We have a lot of chicken in the freezer to go through before I will have to buy more. I also have pork and more salmon in the freezer.

We will have lots of salads and veggies. I plan on ricing the cauliflower. I will be trying a new veggie, the jicama, in a recipe. And there will be lots of tuna on salad for lunch.

We are very aware that our grocery bill will rise but it is worth it. We saved our entire married life so that we could afford to pay more when need be.

Are any of you getting warmer weather? Today is the first day of spring and cold temps in the 20’s and 30’s are forcasted for the next week. I am so over winter!!!

As always click on the pics to make them bigger. I will try to post again soon.

This Week’s Grocery Shop

Yesterday was my weekly grocery shop. We are trying to only go once a week. Last week, I sent Hubby one day for a few things at Aldi’s after I had already been to Top’s. He stuck to the list with the exception of something he wanted for $ 2.99. It was a cheap price to pay while I was not feeling well.

So after meal planning and checking the ads, here is what I purchased at Aldi this week. I will not be shopping again until next week unless some really great deal that we can stockpile comes our way.

Have you ever purchased onions that turn bad pretty quickly after you buy them? Well it has been happening to me a lot lately when I buy them at Top’s. So I am now buying them at Aldi. Two lbs. for $ 1.69 was cheaper than Top’s too. They looked great and are really solid. We go through a lot of onions in this household. They are a natural antibiotic along with garlic so they help to keep us healthy.

Besides onions the only
produce I needed were carrots and apples. The carrots were $ .99 for 2
lbs.- a lot cheaper than buying baby carrots. The apples were 3 lbs. of
Honeycrisp for $ 1.99. It is our favorite apple.

Chicken was on sale for $ 1.49 a lb. I only had room in the freezer for one pack after buying that whole pork loin last week. This is a really good price in our area.

Whenever I see organic grass fed ground beef on sale for a good price, I will buy some. This was $ 4.99 for the lb. I will be making hamburgers for dinner tonight topped with lettuce and sauteed onions. I will put a few French fries in the air fryer as a side. Leftovers will be lunch tomorrow. I had a package of buns in my stockpile in my freezer so I pulled them out. The next time we have hamburgers, I will make the buns.

I picked up some garlic powder for $ 1.19. We were out.

So the total for all of this was $ 19.83. After this shop and last week’s, I have $ 216.98 left out of my $300.00 budget for the month.

Now that I am shopping Aldi’s more often, I am seeing other items that we need that I don’t normally buy there. I would love if anyone who shops Aldi’s regularly would tell me the favorites that they buy there.

Have you gotten any good food deals this week yet?

First Of The Year

I did my first shopping trip of the year yesterday. It was just for a few items that we needed. I wasn’t quite up to it but it was 6% Senior Discount Day at Top’s.

Since I needed to get a whole pork loin for $ 1.59 a lb., I went. We were down to just 2 pork chops in the freezer and this is the best price I have found on pork in a long time. Plus I got an additional 6% off on the loin and the few other items. So 7.92 lbs. of pork loin cost me $ 12.59 before the 6% discount.

I didn’t have enough energy to go to Walmart to get the milk or the saline nasal sprays. So I decided to get everything at Top’s. Bonus that I didn’t have to drive further and use more gasoline. I picked up a reusable shopping bag for $ .69 with coupon. Our Governor is making noise about banning plastic bags in New York like California did. Most of my reusable bags have been given to others so I need to stock on them again.

The milk was a little more expensive than Walmart at $ 1.79. However, I hit the jackpot on the saline nasal sprays. They were much cheaper at Top’s than either Amazon or Walmart. I guess it is worth checking prices again. I paid only $2.77 each for them. It is so dry here in the Buffalo area this winter that these are really needed.

My total for this shop was $ 21.86. That leaves $ 278.14 for the rest of the month.

For some reason both Hubby and I became ill 3 days ago. We must have picked up a bug somewhere. I had the worst of it. So we did not celebrate New Year’s Eve. We have barely eaten in 3 days. That bottle of champagne that has been in my fridge did not get opened again this year. Hubby is feeling much better today so he asked if I was up to eating any dinner. Since I have managed to keep an apple and some toast down, I told him, “Yes I am so hungry.” So he is grilling filet mignons tonight which we will have with salad. Hopefully, it won’t be a mistake. It was not the way we wanted to end 2018 or ring in 2019 but stuff happens. We are hoping for a speedy recovery and a great 2019!

Lest You Think That I Don’t Spend Any Money….

I did one of the largest shopping trips this morning that I have done in probably a year. This trip was to pick up the rest of the things that I needed for our Thanksgiving meal and other foods for our winter stockpile.

The coupons that Top’s mailed me that I discussed in a prior post arrived yesterday. They are four weeks worth of coupons. This week’s was my free turkey coupon and a $3.00 off produce coupon. The turkey coupon was good for a 10lb. and up with a $50. purchase. I knew that I was going to be spending a lot more than $50. today. Above is the free turkey which will be used for a family dinner next spring. The ice cream is for Thanksgiving dessert and the potatoes were needed to make our mashed potatoes.

As you can see above my free Jennie O turkey was 19.57 lb. It would have cost me on sale $ .48 a lb. or a total of $ 9.39. Free is so much better!

The gallon of milk was free because I purchased 3 Pillsbury Pie Crusts and 1 Pillsbury cookie dough. It was a Top’s store deal. One of the boxes of crusts will be used for the homemade cherry pie for Thanksgiving. The cherries were picked from our tree in June and frozen. I also purchased a pumpkin and an apple pie. I am short on time next week because we have appointments on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I like Mrs. Smith’s pies so they will suffice. I will make the cherry pie on Tuesday evening. I picked up the limit of 4 butter at Aldi’s for $1.99 a lb. and 1 lb. at Tops with a Super Coupon. I need to get more at Aldi’s every time I go by one. I plan on stockpiling 20- 25 lbs. for this next year. The sausage is for the stuffing next week. Eggs are always stockpiled here when we have company. Hubby wanted some deli ham for lunches this week. I usually buy my 1/2 and 1/2 at Walmart but they have had none the last 2 times I have been in that store. Hopefully this will last us through Thanksgiving.

The bananas were free with the $3.00 produce coupon. Celery was needed for stuffing. The jellied cranberry sauce, yams, and some of the broth will be used for our Thanksgiving meal. The Ritz were needed for the stockpile as was the canned apple pie fillings. The Chex mix is for snacking while company is here. The candy is a gift. The 6 cans of Deluxe mixed nuts are to make two large batches of our party mix. One for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas. Hubby HATES mixed nuts that have peanuts in them. So once a year I splurge on over $40.00 worth of the deluxe nuts for the holiday party mixes. The Fit and Active whipped topping are for  the pies.

The 2 boxes of Rice Chex, 2 Cheerios, and the 2 bags of pretzel sticks are for the party mix. The bread is for French toast when we have company.

Lastly, Hubby’s Diet Coke was on sale for B2G2F. So to keep him stocked, I picked those up.

I spent $ 142.36 at Top’s and $ 22.47 at Aldi’s. I desperately need Wheat Chex. Neither store had any. We can’t make the party mix without it. So as soon as I finish this post I am headed out to go to a few more stores to try to find two boxes. I may have to travel to another town but I am not coming home without it. I also need to go to the liquor store for some bottles of wine. Once this is done, I am hoping with the exception of butter and some hams to not need anything else for a long time.

Have you guys finished your shopping yet for your Thanksgiving meals?

It Pays To Always Comparison Shop

Taking the time to comparison shop always pays off even on the smaller items. We all know to comparison shop on the large items like cars, homes, major appliances, home repairs, insurances, etc.

But just how many large items do you buy in a year’s time? Most likely not that many. The smaller things can sink a budget since we buy so many that they add up over a year’s time. You see it in your yearly grocery shopping. If you just throw whatever you want into your cart at the grocery store without any preparation, you can spend thousands more than necessary. But if you take the time to meal plan, keep a price book, keep an inventory of your stockpile,  cut coupons, and keep an eye on sales and rock bottom prices, you spend hundreds of dollars less per year. The same is true when we purchase HBA items, over the counter meds, and cleaning products, etc.

We always take the time to comparison shop on everything we buy. So last week when our salt and pepper grinders (pictured above) bit the dust on almost the same day, we started the search for some new ones. Sure we could have just used cheap salt and pepper shakers like I have near my stove or grinders filled with salt and pepper from the store which I would have had to buy over and over again. But Hubby is very particular and likes grinders and I don’t like buying things over and over again so I asked him to do a search for his favorite. Then I did the comparison shopping online.

He sent this link of blue grinders at HSN and this link at QVC. Those told me that these Kalorik gravity grinders were the ones he wanted. As you can see the HSN set was $38.24 plus $ 5.50 for shipping and the QVC set was $ 37.99 plus $ 5.50 for shipping. Then of course we would have 8% sales tax to pay but we would pay that no matter where we purchased them. I also hated the blue color which would not have looked well in my breakfast/dining room. But I figured I could look for other colors. HSN only had the blue but QVC had gold and red also for the same prices. I decided I liked the gold.

I ruled out HSN because
they did not have the gold color. If I went through my Ebates account
and purchased at QVC, I would get 1% back or $ .38 which would bring the
price down to $ 37.61 plus $ 5.50 shipping.

I checked Walmart.com and they were $ 32.79 and free shipping or pick up. Then I checked Amazon and the gold that I wanted was $ 7.00 less than their red and blue. The gold was $ 27.39. I have a Prime membership so 2 day shipping was free for us.

So I ordered at Amazon which was $ 15.72 less than QVC with shipping and $ 5.40 less than Walmart. I had a $5.00 Amazon gift certificate and $ 8.66 in reward points sitting in my Amazon account which I used. So my final price out of pocket was $ 13.73 plus tax.

Making these comparisons only took a few minutes and it was worth getting the cheapest price at Amazon and saving $ 5.40 over Walmart’s price. Using my reward rebate money and the free gift certificate saved me another $ 13.66 out of pocket. It was a win- win all the way!

Do I compare and do the math on every purchase? You bet I do. It is so worth it and it adds up to big bucks in a year’s time.

Changing the subject, I hope you all had a great weekend. We did. Instead of my family coming for breakfast yesterday, they came for lunch and to watch the Bills football game which was very disappointing. But spending time with family is just the best.

Knowing that West was here, I baked some brownies for dessert. He loved them and ate quite a few.

My son helped us put all of the patio furniture and the grill in our shed. We have had some major wind the past few days which caused things to blow around. Hubby also brought the snowblower from the shed to the garage so that it is at the ready to use when need be.

My son carried a box( 11 bottles of 750ml) of Jordan’s Irish Cream SF syrup downstairs to my basement pantry for me. I buy it in bulk to get free shipping and this time I also got a free bottle.  We love this syrup in our coffee. I think we are now set for the winter. He also brought 3- 40 lb. bags of salt pellets down to our water softener and filled it up.

I made a quick trip to Top’s. I never had a chance to take a picture but I can tell you that it was a great stock up trip. I purchased 18 eggs, 1 pkg. of Dixie Plates(great for holiday desserts), 8 boxes of General Mills cereal, 3 boxes of Scottie Tissues, 4 boxes of Nature Valley Granola bars, 4 bags of Luden SF Cough Drops, 1 box of Idaho Steakhouse Potatoes(free Catalina), 1 gallon of milk, 3 Wholly Guacamole(1 Free Coupon), 2 Suave Body Wash, 2 lbs. of yellow onions, 1 bunch of celery, 1 bag of baby carrots, 2 pkgs. of Thomas English muffins, 3 Tic Tacs, and 1- 8 ct. Arnold Sesame Rolls all for $ 39.84 after coupons. I got a $2.00 off my next shopping trip Catalina coupon from buying the cereal. That will probably be the only shopping I do this week.

I filled up the car with gasoline. Gas cost $ 2.979 at our gas station. Since I didn’t do much shopping over the past month, I had only earned $.10 off a gallon. But every little bit helps.
