Monday’s Doings

Well, it has been a sunny Monday and I have been working on a couple of large projects today. One was paperwork that just exasperating. It is almost finished but I can’t go any further until the end of next week.

Then I took a new inventory of all of my freezers and made sure that I have room for the 40 lbs. of chicken that will be coming from Zaycon Fresh very soon. My  basement freezer had some ice in it but Hubby helped me take all of the food out. Then he used a plastic scraper like a wide putty knife to take all of the ice off the walls. I dried the walls and the bottom and we put everything back.

Take a look at the pictures. I think I have enough room for 40 pounds of chicken. What do you think? I am picking up the chicken very late in the day so it will be a big task that night to get it all prepared for the freezer. We have 2 Food Savers so Hubby will help me get it packaged up. I have made sure that I have enough food saver bags.

All of this took up most of my day. It is now almost 4:00PM.

Here is a small peek at the Excel inventory that I am keeping on my computer. Copying it didn’t turn out as neat as I wanted it to but you get the idea. I don’t have the patience right now to try to fix it. The first # after location is on hand. I also have a used column and remaining column. When an item goes to zero it highlights in pink so that I am aware that I need that item.  I have all of my freezers inventoried and some of my pantry but not all. I will finish that soon. I hope you are all having a good Monday too.

Under The Weather Does Not Stop Me

I woke up this morning with a pounding headache. Tylenol does not take it away. But I am trying not to let it interfere with what I need to do today.

So I am taking it easy and not doing any heavy work just little odds and ends around here.

This morning I baked some homemade blueberry muffins. I had about a cup of blueberries in the fridge left from doing some smoothies.

I was going to sew a button on Hubby’s shirt that came loose but Hubby did it before I had a chance. I love a man who can make his own repairs.

I am getting a small grocery list together for tomorrow. Top’s is running PI deals. They have a white meat chicken pie that we have been wanting to try but not at full price. With coupon, they are $ 3.14 tomorrow. I also have some deals that I want to pick up.

The beef barley soup that Hubby and I made yesterday turned out to be the best we have ever made. So that will be dinner again tonight.

I am also working on a project that organizes all of my usage books for my kitchen appliances. Instead of stacking them in a drawer and having to go through the stack to find what I need, they will be organized so that I can lay my finger on anything quickly. I am hoping to get it done today. I will post a picture if I do.

My order of 80 rolls of toilet paper for $ 40.14 arrived today. Down in the stockpile it goes. These are large rolls.

Well, I finished my project. All of the kitchen appliance usage booklets have been put in this Pendaflex File. Inside it has a folder for every letter of the alphabet. Everything is filed alphabetically according to what it is. For example: My Kitchen Aid mixer info is filed under M for Mixers. My Rice Cooker is under R for Rice. Now I will be able to easily pull the booklet when I use an appliance.

I didn’t get as much done as I wanted today because of my throbbing headache. But at least the day wasn’t totally wasted.

Did you have a productive day?

I Hit Up the 50% Off Valentine’s Candy Sale and Other Things

It has been a busy week filled with such anticipation of my family arriving. I can hardly wait. So I have been trying to keep busy planning menus, etc.

This morning I went to Walmart to make a return and hit up the 50% off Valentine’s sale. I was only interested in candy for baking and Halloween. I just freeze it for those purposes. It actually keeps without freezing it for a long time. Happy that I went early because they did not have much and I was shopping for us and my DIL. So I bought a lot of chocolates to make cookies, cupcakes, muffins, party mix, etc. I paid with grocery money that I roll and a Walmart Gift Card.

While I was up that way, I stopped at Home Depot to pick up a 3 way LED bulb. Until I researched online, I had no idea that they made them yet. I paid full price for one because our regular bulb died last night. I paid with a Home Depot gift card that Hubby got for Christmas. I will be looking for a sale on them so that I can replace the other 3 way bulbs that we use.

I also stopped at Panera Bread and used one of the $400. worth of discounted Gift Cards that I got a year ago from supermarket deals to buy bagels to go with breakfast on Saturday.

My last stop was at Dollar Tree to make a return and get the product replaced. I picked up 4 small bags of Valentine candy that were marked $ .50 each.

Hubby has been busy the last few days trying to get our Homeowner’s Insurance cheaper. He finally decided to go to an agency that handles a lot of companies. They can check companies and prices a lot easier than we can. Our homeowners which is due in March went up $ 140. this year alone. Since we bought this house almost 8 years ago the premium gone up 150% and we have never had a claim. Our auto policy, we just paid in December and that has risen rapidly also. We knew that we wanted to consolidate them but we did not want to take a hit for cancelling the auto policy so soon after we paid the annual premium. So the agency checked all of that for us. They found out that our company that we are with now does not charge a huge fee for cancelling early. They just pro-rate it and give us the money back. So we are considering a nationwide company who will insure us for the exact insurance that we have now on both policies and consolidate them so they both come due on the same time. We do not insure for the minimums. We carry hundreds of dollars worth of insurance on both our home and our SUV. The new company is charging us $200. less for both policies combined. Now of course, we run the risk of that company going up on renewal but so will the other one go up. And we can always have the agency look for a cheaper policies again on renewal. We also checked each companies BBB rating and they are just about the same. So we will make our decision in the next couple of days.

My son and granddaughter are arriving mid morning tomorrow and not leaving until Monday. So I will be back posting on Tuesday. I hope you all have a great weekend.
