Hubby bought me something that I have been wanting for a very long time

I have been wanting a second freezer for a few years now. I have been tracking prices and looking at different models for years. During the evening on Sunday, I saw this upright that I have been eyeing on sale for 54% off. It had thousands of great reviews. It is not a full size upright but it is perfect for what I wanted to use it for. I showed Hubby and told him it would be my beef freezer. He said if you want it order it. I did and it was delivered yesterday. It was taken to my basement by a very nice man. Hubby unpacked all of the styrofoam and cardboard that it came in that very night while I chatted with my sister. Today I cleaned up the packing materials. Then I removed half of the items in our chest freezer so that Hubby and I could move it and we could put the new one to the right of it. Hubby installed automatic lighting for me when he did the pantry. It comes on when I open the pantry door. However if we left the new one to the left of the chest freezer, it blocked the light. After we moved it, I then put everything back into the chest freezer.

After the new one had cooled to the proper temperature, I took everything back out of the chest freezer. I sorted it into these blue bins that I had purchased on Amazon a long time ago:

I sorted by type of meat: pork, chicken, fish and seafood, and beef. All of the beef items went into the new freezer. It took up almost three shelves. I used another shelf for my 21 lbs. of butter.

All of the vegetables and fruits have been put in one bin. We eat a lot of fresh vegetables in the summer so I don’t keep many frozen ones. Another bin has yeast, nuts and bread products.

I do have 3 turkeys in the bottom of the freezer along with 2 lbs. of ground turkey. I like to keep the same meats sorted together so that I can find them when needed.

Everything was counted and inventoried while I did it. I purchased two magnetic white boards on Amazon. One for each freezer. They are here:

Later today or tomorrow, I will write a map for each freezer and put the inventory for each item on there also. That way I can just erase and change it easily when I use something up or add something I have purchased.

If anyone is interested in buying this one, it was on sale at Walmart for $218. They also have a chest freezer on sale if you are need in of one for $205.

Hubby was quite impressed with the new one when it came. He didn’t expect it to be as nice as it is. I am thrilled. It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy.

I am so excited for you! I also sort everything by category in my upright.
So much easier. I have 1 for GB, steaks, chicken, veggies, chicken tenders, breakfast sandwiches and sausage.

Hi Precious, first of all the gas and electric bills are paid for this month: $200.39 for both. Your new freezer looks great and it will sure help you keep things organized. I like my upright freezer. Daughter has the chest style , smaller than yours. I keep a few things like turkey breasts in hers.

I am on antibiotics again for my arm. I know I have written you about it before. I am feeling better than I was earlier in the week, but will be 10 days on the meds.

Hubby and I started making the brownie cake this morning for family dinner tomorrow. It was a huge disaster and we FaceTimed Son to see about how to salvage, or if we could. This time the cakes wouldn’t come out of the pans, they were stuck. Son is a food scientist. Hubby wanted to make the cakes again. I wanted to use the cake pieces and make a trifle. Son volunteered to make the cake at his house tonight. So we went with that. I am still not totally sure what happened but think the heat had something to do with it. I sent Son some $$ to help with the ingredients b/c it is an expensive cake to make.

We will be celebrating Hubby and little granddaughter tomorrow night. Hubby picked the brownie cake. Granddaughter picked spaghetti for the meal. I will go out in the morning to get what I need.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for sharing your utility bill. Not bad. I am loving the freezer.

Oh no. I am sorry about your arm. I hope you feel better each day.

It was nice that you son could come to your rescue.

I hope they both enjoyed their celebrations.
