We had corned beef reuben sandwiches again last night. So tonight we will be having turkey BLT’s so that we can use up the turkey and tomatoes. Bacon was cooked on Saturday for breakfast yesterday and the BLT’s tonight.
This morning I was up and out at 7:15 a.m. for an eye doctor checkup. My eyes were the same as last year. No cataracts and no sign of any damage at all. I can continue to use my cheap reading glasses. They only put one dilation drop in each eye so I was able to stop at Top’s on the way home and get these two packages of chicken breasts for $ 2.49 a lb. Chicken seems to be scarce in our area so I am grabbing what I can when it is on sale.
These will be preserved with the food saver and put in the upstairs freezer. I have other chicken breasts frozen. Those will come out of the freezer and be thawed and canned because they are older.
I cashed out points for a $10.00 Amazon GC at Pinecone. I am signing up at some more sites to earn points.
I did one load of wash using cold water and hung it to dry. I also did one full load of dishes in the dishwasher using 1 tbsp. of dish soap. They are air drying now.
Hubby is outside watering all of the flowers that are in baskets and pots. I am continuing to go through all of our stuff and either toss it, donate it, or sell it.
What have you been doing to save a little money?

Hi Precious! I would be interested to know about what you use for points. We get points on our credit cards and I have points for Kohls. The points I get from Kroger daughter uses for gas. For some reason our Kroger cards are still linked and she has been on her own since 2008. We have tried to correct multiple times but they never do. She and SIL fill up more often than we do so I am ok that they use them.
Yesterday I made turkey burgers so we could use some of the sandwich tomatoes. We had the granddaughters after school. We didn’t spend any money yesterday. We got the invoice for the new roof, but haven’t received the second check yet from our insurance. Hubby will look into it today.
Hi Chris,
Right now we use Fetch and Ibotta with grocery receipts. We get gas points at Top’s. But since we are not shopping as often right now, I don’t get enough points to make them worth using. Their price right now is 20 cents higher than my cash station so that is where I will be getting my gas for now. I get points from Amazon because I have their card. I get a $100. rebate 3-4 times a year from my other card. I haven’t been in a Kohl’s since Covid so I don’t get any points there. I get cash back from Walmart for certain purchases. Today I researched Upside. But I am not joining that because they only have 3 gas stations and 1 restaurant in my area that I could use. The gas stations are all the highest priced ones and the restaurant I would not go to. I am still looking into Gas Buddy.
I haven’t had turkey burgers in ages. I know I have some in the chest freezer. I will have to dig them out.
