I have missed all of you. We are spending our days running to doctor appointments for me. I am still being tested and it is getting very old and very annoying. I can’t drive per doctor’s orders for my safety and others. So anytime I have to go anywhere, Hubby takes me. He has been wonderful and never complains except when I ask him to take me to the grocery store to get the loss leaders I need each week. I usually run all the errands in this family so he is not used to it. Plus he has always hated grocery shopping. But he has stepped up and takes me when needed. I try to get in and out quickly. If I am going to be more than 20 minutes, he waits in the car. Otherwise he comes in with me and bags all the groceries at the checkout. So I try to only get the real loss leaders to get in and out quickly.
He also has been doing most of the cooking which is giving me a break. Today he is going to make a large pot of chili using up about 2 lbs. of organic ground beef that I purchased months ago at Aldi’s on a sale. It has gotten colder here and I have been craving it. I can almost smell it cooking all day while I write this. We will eat this for a few days and then save some to use on hot dogs so that we can get those out of the freezer for the winter. The last couple of days we have had bacon cheeseburgers and pork chops with Hubby’s Waldorf coleslaw that he makes. So yummy!
I have been puttering still trying to declutter around here. I take a nap almost every afternoon because I tire easily. So things are getting done a little at a time.
I am looking forward to watching Tony and Ziva on Paramount Plus today. It has been a long wait. My Buffalo Bills play on Sunday so we are excited for football season.
Keeping a list of the things we are doing around here this month to save a few bucks is my #1 priority. I will end the month giving you that list. Hubby and I have also been discussing our budget for next year. I have been making a list of Thanksgiving items I hope to purchase when they go on sale. We are trying to eat out of our freezer to empty it a bit to make room for turkeys. Hopefully they will be a good price this year.
We are loving the cooler weather so we try to get outside each day even if it is only sitting in the yard. I told Hubby I am sick of being at home. So to get me out, we are going to a new local restaurant near us that opened a few weeks ago for lunch one day next week. They have some great prices on specials.
Eloise is getting so big. She has her first vet appointment next week for her annual checkup and has three shots to get. Hopefully, the vet bill won’t be too expensive.
I take my last testing device to my doctor in two weeks and then get the results the beginning of October. Then hopefully I can get back to normal activities. Time will tell. I am really stir crazy because you all know how active I usually am. I want my life back. If any of you pray, I could really use a few prayers. Thank you.
Precious

Hi Precious, thanks for the update. I am sure you are stir crazy, and I am faithfully praying for you and Hubby. He is a good man and loves you so much, I know this from being with you.
My hubby doesn’t like to go grocery shopping much either. But our Kroger is resetting and there has been lots of clearance the past week or so and one of us tries to stop by every day or 2. I got a lot of rice one day and some big boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios. Also we have gotten some of Kitty’s dry food, canned green beans and canned tomato sauce. We are trying to just buy what we need.
Pork butts are on sale this week so Hubby went to get a couple and put in Daughter’s freezer. He will cook later this month when they are having a big party at their new house. The best price here is 1.99/lb but he got them on senior day at Kroger and got an extra 5% off. Every little bit helps.
We are leaving later today to go to visit mother in law for the weekend. I will send you an email about it. We could use your and Hubby’s prayers also.
Hi Chris,
You are welcome. Thanks for the prayers. Hubby truly is a good man.
You are doing well with your selective shopping. Your Hubby did great with the pork butts. I missed senior discount day this week. Oh well,, there will be another one.
I have been praying for your whole family.
Good to hear from you. I have been praying for you and will continue.
Thanks so much Wendy. I really appreciate it.
I’ve been keeping you in my thoughts and praying for a healing resolution. Isn’t it funny how we try to stay true to ourselves even in sickness? Looking for bargains, decluttering and running our errands just to maintain some sense of normalcy are ways that bring peace and calm to our spirits. I’m happy you’ve been able to do these things and they provide comfort during these stressful moments. You and your husband are such a great team!
Hi smhuh,
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. You are so right. Being frugal I think is in my blood. It does provide comfort and peace.
Continued prayers and positive thoughts!
I have been very selective as well as to what we buy, not much stocking up since sales have been dismal. We need to save a good chuck of money to get the repairs done on the RV, thankfully we can take it to a service center in Oregon and leave until April to save on storage fees and to save, save, save.
Hi Patti,
Thanks so much! Our sales here have not been great either. We are not even going to shop this week at Top’s. The ads have not been good for a couple of weeks.I may have Hubby stop tomorrow after a doctor’s appointment so I can rejoin B.J.’s with a cheap coupon they keep sending me. It depends on how good I feel after my appt. I eish you great luck on the repairs and your savings.
