It has been brutally cold and snowy here. Hubby and I went out to pick up his prescriptions yesterday. The wind chill was -23. The temperature was 7.
We had wanted to go on Monday but it snowed. So Tuesday it was. The chill made me realize why I like grocery delivery.
I went with him because I decided to get something at Top’s. So I only made it 20 days without buying anything. However, I was not going to pass up 80/20 ground beef on sale for $3.99 a lb. with a super coupon. It was a large 6.55 lb. package and I paid $26.13. I have not seen that price in a long time. Hubby has been wanting to make chili and we did not have enough ground beef so he will this weekend.
I came home and used the food saver to portion it into a little over a pound packages. Two of those will make a big pot of chili and the rest will each make two meals for us. I had also wanted to go to Niagara Produce for a great sale there but it was just too darn cold and we just wanted to get home to the warmth in our home.
However it will be warmer today, so I will go for dozens of extra large eggs that are on sale for $.99 a dozen. We haven’t had that price in years.

Saturday, I made the little hotdogs wrapped in crescent dough. They made an easy dinner while we watched football. We did not win so our season is over. I am more upset over the owner firing our coach than losing the game. I don’t think there is another coach out there as good as him.
Sunday I made turkey soup. We ate it for two days and then I froze 3/4’s of a gallon in 2 portion containers. When I thawed this turkey to cook it, I thought I only had 3 left in the freezer. However, I updated my inventory of my chest freezer last weekend and realized I have 4 left. So they will all get roasted before winter or spring is over and portioned to use in place of chicken.
Yesterday, I made Philly steak sandwiches on Italian bread. I made caramelized onions to go on top and then melted provolone cheese on all. They were so good. Hubby says he wants these again. I hadn’t made them in years.
Tonight we are going to have homemade pizza loaded with mushrooms for me and pepperoni for Hubby. The leftovers will get frozen and used for a future meal.
All of our brunches have been eggs, avocado, and sausages.
Lastly, West turned 16 this week. He had not been born when we moved from Arizona to here. Those years have gone fast. I believe he got his driver’s permit yesterday. In NYS, you can’t schedule an appointment for your driver’s test until 6 months after you get your permit. So he should be driving this summer.
After I make breakfast and throw a load of wash in, I will head to NP. Have you gotten any good deals this week? Please share with us.

I wasn’t sad the Bills lost but firing the coach was not cool. I’m glad the Broncos won.
Big shop last week so minimal this week. Some of the deals were
All of his sandwich fixins were on sale so we are set for a few weeks there
My favorite seasoned salmon was a BOGO
12pk soda was 6.00 instead of shelf price of 12.00 he’s been drinking less and I quit a few months ago so its lasting longer as well
I am at 604.00/900.00 budget so I should be good
Patti,
Congratulations to the Broncos. I forgot that is your team. Yeah on the sandwich fixings. I have been waiting on a good salmon sale. Congrats that you found one. Soda is outrageously expensive. Congrats on giving it up. I can’t get Hubby to do that either. You are doing well with your budget.
Hi Precious. Hope you were able to get the eggs. We haven’t had that price for a LONG time. The NP ad had some other good deals too.
I haven’t been out grocery shopping this week yet, planning to go in the morning. We are supposed to be part of that big storm that is coming this weekend. I am guessing you are too. I am planning to make chili this weekend also. Tomorrow for family dinner I am going to make lasagna. I made a chicken casserole with broccoli tonight. So we will have lots of comfort food to eat for the next week. I have been putting portions of any soup I have been making in the freezer. I have a friend who is going to have knee replacement early Feb, so will pass along to her for quick meals.
Was sorry to see about your team being out of the playoffs. I have many family members who were very happy with Indiana winning the college football championship. One of my cousins got to go to the game with her daughter, who is a senior there.
I went to Dollar Tree on Sunday to get a Valentine for hubby and a few other things. Spent $6.xx altogether. I also wanted to let your readers know that they have sympathy cards for people who have lost a pet. They are with the other sympathy cards in the .50 section, near the bottom. Our friends had to put their cat down last week. She was old and having problems with a mass in her stomach. It was sad, but they did the right thing not to let her suffer.
Hi Chris,
I was able to get 3 dozen eggs which filled up my 5 dozen box. That new storm that is forming looks awful. Supposedly the track has now been moved north to us starting Sunday. But we will have to see if that actually occurs. I am sure you are prepared for the storm. You have to love chili when it is so cold. Wah that a chicken casserole with broccoli and rice? I so love that. But I don’t make it very often because Hubby will not eat the broccoli. Your neighbor will really appreciate the soup.
We watched the Indiana game and we were routing for them.
It is so hard to have to say goodbye to an animal.
Indiana fan here as well! My niece went there and is a teacher and I am from NW Indiana originally.
We watched that game. That team is amazing!
